A lost Firstborn Sylvari

So.. been waiting to do something to do with Guild Wars 2 for ages. Loved Guild Wars 1 and I’m pretty hyped about Guild Wars 2. But have had a hard time drawing anything good. I have tried about 4 other pictures before I got to this one, Charr and Sylvari. And this one kept changing too. She was holding a Bow in a forest, and then somehow it changed to this… I thought I would write a bit of a story to go with it to give it some background as to how this image came around, so here goes, please read it, it will give new meaning to the image.

Curiosity, inquisitiveness or interest, however you want to call it is a double edged sword. In one hand it can lead to new and wonderful things, in the other it can lead to despicable acts. It started out innocently. A young Sylvari and Asura meet for the first time. They have heard of each other’s races before, but never set eyes on one. At first the Asura was in awe of the being before her. That was until her Asuran brain started asking questions, Dose it breathe? Is its luminosity chemical, biological or a form of phosphorescence? Will its leaves grow back? If so how long will it take? This and so much more was going on it the little Asuran head. The Sylvari was in wonder too and keen to learn more about the world and its inhabitances. It was almost child’s play for the Asuran to lure the Sylvari back to her lab where she could run tests in private. That was one of the down sides of being a firstborn, the pool of knowledge was still very shallow. Facts were there. Like rock, water, sword, metal and what they were and did. But Emotions, Motivation and feelings were more complex and needed firsthand experience to understand, experience that doesn’t come without consequences….
